It’s the beginning of summer when the kids are out of school and people are planning their summer vacations. Unfortunately, burglars are planning for your summer vacation too.
Burglars seek out homes where the family is on vacation and look for unlocked windows or doors, dimly lit entryways or locks in poor condition in order to enter your home and steal our valuables. Some burglars have been known to quickly snatch and grab a valuable item left in plain sight from the home while the family is barbecuing in the back yard!

- No matter how tempting it is to sleep with the window open, use a fan or the air conditioner instead. If you must sleep with the window open, place a bar or obstruction across the window opening to prevent intruders from climbing in through the window.

Also, let your newspaper carrier know to hold delivery until you return. A pile of mail or newspapers in the driveway is a dead giveaway that you are not home.
